Meet my new favorite guilt-free dessert.

This almond milk slushie is my solution for evenings when I want a cold and creamy treat, without consuming something that’s too dense or difficult on my digestive system. It’s light and sweet, and tastes similar to vanilla ice cream, while remaining dairy-free!

It’s also incredibly easy to make. In less than 5 minutes, you could be enjoying a glass yourself!

Almond Milk Slushie (Vegan)
serves 1

Ingredients:

1 cup chilled almond milk
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5-6 ice cubes

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender, and blend until a uniform slushie-like texture is achieved. Add more ice, if a thicker texture is desired, keeping in mind that additional ice will dilute the sweet vanilla flavor. (You can always add more maple syrup and vanilla, if you like.)

Pour into a large glass and enjoy with a spoon or a straw!

Note: If you don’t care for almond milk, you can substitute any other type of milk that you like. For a sugar-free version, you can also use liquid stevia, instead of the maple syrup, to taste.

  1. Easy with great flavor. Just what was looking for! I added cinnamon and cardamom and see using this as a starting point to explore other flavors.

  2. Pretty good shake.. i didn’t like the taste alone (could have been because i didn’t have maple syrup so i used honey) so i added cocoa powder and instant coffee to make it more for me!! overall, thanks for the recipe!

  4. I’ve been making shakes in my Ninja Pulse for months now. It started with my desire to make our favorite Starbucks fraps. And it works, for way less $$!! I use the organic Whole Foods vanilla flavored almond milk, which is cheaper than any other almond milk in grocery stores. I use that one because its already flavored my desired flavor and its already sweetened which saves me extra ingredients. They sweeten theirs with organic cane sugar so I’m not worried. I do a 1/2 and 1/2 mixture, half of my milk I freeze into ice cubes and the other half I use as liquid. The reason I started doing this was bc the Starbucks drinks were driving me nuts – you get all this great drink and then have 1/3 of the cup still filled with this super slowly melting ice. So instead of stirring and sloshing my drink for hours waiting for the full melt, I have this amazingly textured shake that all melts together to frap perfection. Now you know the perks, here’s how I get a dead ringer for the Vanilla Bean Frap & Chocolatey Chip Frap:

    1/2 the mount of milk I want to use as ice cubes
    Add the other 1/2 as liquid. (I use 3/4-1 cup of each for a nice size shake, but you get to choose the size!)
    1tsp vanilla for vanilla bean Frap
    Pulse to desired consistency, and that’s it. My husband LOVES these!!

    I prefer the chocolatey chip:
    1/2 ice cubes & 1/2 liquid
    1tbsp (can add more to your taste) chocolate syrup
    1 tbs of chopped chocolate or chocolate chips: I use dark but semisweet works great too!
    Pulse to blend and break up chips/ice, it won’t take long.

    I swear we’re crazy about these and I can’t tell you how much is saved by making these yourself! The 2-5 minute investment is SO worth it!

  6. Iv’e been browsing all your recipes they look fabulous, can’t wait to try them. I know my friends will all love them too…I’m sure they’ll all be re pinning mine the first chance they get. lol!
    I make tons of smoothies and the like using my vitamix, love that thing…the best appliance ever!
    I have a recommendation I never like to add ice cubes to my smoothies cause I feel they get watered down so I always have frozen almond milk cubes or coconut milk cubes readily available and I also make coffee cubes for yummy frozen coffee beverages. so for this recipe I’ve actually done this one before and i would use frozen almond milk cubes to make it frothy or even my coffee cubes to make it like a frozen frappe or something. on cold evenings I like to warm a cup of almond milk on the stove and add cinnamon and vanilla it helps me sleep better.
