These Apple "Donuts" are a healthy snack idea you can assemble in just minutes. Let kids decorate each apple slice with their favorite toppings for a fun after-school activity!
Hold the apple sideways so you can slice rounds, directly through the core with the seeds. You should get roughly 7 to 8 slices from a large apple, depending on how thick you make the slices. (I like them to be between ⅛-inch and ¼-inch thick.)
Use an apple corer, a small cookie cutter, or the round side of a frosting tip to cut out circles from the center of each apple slice. This will remove their seeds and make each slice look like a donut shape.
Spread a thin layer of peanut butter on each slice, then add your favorite toppings. You can mix and match! Add granola or chopped nuts for a crunchy bite, sprinkles or chocolate for a sweet flavor, or hemp hearts for added protein. Serve them right away for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
Nutrition information is for 2 apple slices with peanut butter, assuming you get 8 slices from 1 large apple. This information is just a rough estimate, not a guarantee, since your toppings will vary each time.
