If you love homemade almond milk, but don’t want to go through the hassle of soaking or straining it, this shortcut using almond butter is for you. It will quickly become your favorite way to make almond milk!

Typically, homemade nut milk is made by blending whole (sometimes soaked) almonds with water and then straining out the pulp using a nut milk bag. It’s not too difficult, but it’s not necessarily a process you want to go through when you only need 1 cup of almond milk.

That’s where this 2-minute almond milk comes in.

Keep this easy hack in your back pocket!

Ingredients You’ll Need

To make almond milk faster, without the need for soaking or straining, all you need is almond butter and water. You can use any other nut butter or seed butter you like with this method, just keep in mind that the milk will taste like what you use.

So, if you use cashew butter, you’ll make cashew milk. And peanut butter would make peanut-flavored milk.

You get the idea.

Feel free to add any flavorings you like, such as maple syrup or honey for sweetness. Or, try adding a touch of vanilla extract, cinnamon, or a pinch of salt. The taste is totally up to you!

Detoxinista Tip

My favorite store-bought almond butter is the “raw” almond butter from Trader Joe’s. It has no salt added with a mild, not-roasted flavor. It tastes like homemade almond butter without the extra effort, but you can use any almond butter you find at your local grocery store.

How to Make Almond Milk with Almond Butter

To make fresh almond milk add 1 tablespoon of creamy almond butter for every 1 cup of water you use. It’s easy to scale this recipe to make exactly what you’ll need for the next few days.

Add the ingredients to a high-speed blender, then secure the lid. Blend for 30-60 seconds or until the mixture looks creamy.

There’s no need to strain this dairy-free milk, so it’s ready to use right away. Or, pour it into a mason jar with a lid and store it in the fridge to chill. It will separate overnight, so be sure to give it a good shake before using it again.

Use this quick almond milk recipe in your favorite smoothies, chia pudding, overnight oats, and more. It also makes a delicious addition to your morning coffee.

Can I make chocolate almond milk?

Yes, you can check out my chocolate almond milk recipe for guidance, but if you prefer to make an almond butter version, start by adding 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, or any other sweetener, for each cup of almond milk you plan to make. 1. Have you tried this with other nut/seed butters? You have me thinking about even trying this with coconut manna/butter! Thanks for this ingenious idea.

  2. This recipe is one of the best ones I’ve made. Do you have a coffee creamer made with this nut butter?
That would be fantastic…. Like a one-stop shop for filling my frig!

    1. This is absolutely brilliant!! I don’t mind making almond milk the regular way but I dislike having to make it every couple of days, so this is a game-changer!!! And the best thing is that it tastes FANTASTIC!! I made it with dates to sweeten it and after it thoroughly cooled in the fridge, I couldn’t stop drinking it!! Thank you so much for this, Megan!!

  3. I haven’t tried the recipe (yet), but am wondering if date syrup could be used in place of an actual date? I don’t think I would use dates often enough to buy a pack.

    1. If you prefer to use date syrup, that should be fine! Date syrup is diluted in flavor compared to a single date, so you might need to just add extra until it reaches the sweetness you like.
